Brian Castriota uses the photographic lens to blur the boundary separating the built and natural environments, and consider traces of human presence on a geologic timescale. In this work, memory and experience are approached as artifacts contained within the strata of history and consciousness. Their excavation serves to situate the viewer within macro-chronologies.
