Swift River

In this series I photographed remnants of four towns in the late Swift River Valley, abandoned and flooded in the 1930s to build the Quabbin reservoir for Boston. Having made these images in the hills adjacent to my hometown in western Massachusetts, I examine my own proximity to ruin, and to the reclamation and reabsorbtion of human artifact by the eternal digestive system of the forest floor.
